THE DOUBLE DATES (Luck Records)

Left to right; Benedick F. Savage, Thomas Doherty, Susan E. Crave and Susan V. O'Rourk.

Mixed group from Long Island in New York consisting of two boys and two girls Benedict Franklyn Savage, Thomas Doherty, Susan and Elizabeth Crave.

This group began with Benedict who played the guitar in a band when he was in high school, there he met Thomas from Hicksville High School and at the beginning of 1959 they decided to form a musical duo, visiting broadway they entered number 1650 where the office of Leo Rogers, who had the Royal Teens on the payroll, met music producer Vinny Catalano there, who took an interest in the group and gave them two songs "Tatoo" and "I Love You, Girl" to practice with.

Benedict and Thomas added two girls to the duo so that it would have more vocal strength and the Double Dates were born, back at the offices they sang these two songs and Vinny and Leo liked them and prepared a recording session with Bob Gaudio and The Royal Teens as Backing up, these two songs were finally released on Luck Records in 1959, the group performed in New Jersey, but soon the girls left the group and Benedict and Thomas sang together for a short time.
