...THE BELL HOPS...


Above The Bell Hops from New York City consisted of (from left) Larry Bené(Lead Singer),Frankie Tamburo,Harry Tamburo,Sal Tamburo and Pat La Rocca. They recorded in 1956 on the Tin Pan Alley label the sides_Please Don't Say No To Me/Merchant Street Blues.

After this recording the group disbanded and the Tamburo's brothers recorded as The Voxpoppers on Mercury Records(see in this blog).



Paul La Rocca(left),Larry Bené(middle) with Chuck Bowman(right) formed another Bell Hop's group.

They recorded on the Tin Pan Alley label the sides...

-Please Pretty Please/Searching (1957).

And on the Barb label the sides...

-Ring Dang Doo Ting A Ling/Angela (1958).

Paul la Rocca went to the army and was replaced by Bill Zamperilli (top left on the below picture).



They recorded in 1958 on the Barb Label the sides_Love Me Baby/Teen Age Years/Carmella.

Finally the group with new member Jimmy d'Aquistino (Bill leave) recorded in 1959 their last record_Thinking of You/Simple Ceremony.
